Welcome

Welcome to my website! As learning is a social construct that is never-ending, so too is this website in a constant state of growth and development.

Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher I am strongly drawn to Vygotsky’s social-constructivism pedagogy, with the focus on scaffolding student learning through a social and collaborative context; respecting and acknowledging the influence that culture, environment, cognitive and psychological development has on learners. I am passionate about education, and am always looking at how I can improve my professional practise in order to best improve the student outcomes for each individual student that I teach. I strongly believe that we are all lifelong learners, and I enjoy bringing my excitement for learning into the classroom and professional community.

I endeavour to make the classroom a safe and inclusive environment where students can try new things, make mistakes, and grow. I strive to challenge and motivate each individual student; aiming to facilitate not only their understanding of the skills they use to develop their knowledge, but also their ability to transfer these skills into other areas of their life, preparing them for whatever the future may bring. I strongly believe in the importance of understanding your students and how they learn best, and always endeavour to provide a variety of learning strategies within my planning.
